It'll Last Longer

It'll Last Longer

In the shadow of the majestic Golden Gate Bridge, I dared to defy protocol, seizing a moment that would etch defiance into the annals of naval tradition of manning the rails. USS Paul Hamilton's engines just barley drowned out my voice as I leaned over to another JO in quiet rebellion on posing for a photo. As my iPhone camera captured the iconic scene I would soon be met with a booming reprimand from an irate Navy Chief. "PUT YOUR F***IN' PHONE AWAY... SIR" To late, I got the photo and it was worth every bit of reaming. "Sir, you're the example! you can't be *(taking photos)"

*(creating lasting memories)

In the dynamic world of the military, your experiences are a tapestry waiting to be captured. Don't let it slip into a feint memory.

1. The friends along the way:

  • Candid Camaraderie: Freeze-frame those unscripted moments, showcasing the laughter, shared challenges, and embracing the suck. Every hard time overcome with other people has always been looked at back with a smile.

2. Before and After:

  • Before-and-After Evolution: Chronicle your transformation from a novice recruit to a seasoned leader. Everyone has their own glow-up in pivotal chapters of the Navy.

3. Keeping it formal:

  • Ceremonial Heritage: Photograph the precision and solemnity of flag ceremonies, drills, and other traditions that define the rich tapestry of military life. To this day I still wish I had a photo of me hoisting the colors at least once.

4. Honor those Before You

  • Tribute Moments: There will be opportunities where you will take part in a ceremony or event. Dressed in your shiniest shoes, an immaculately pressed uniform, and a stone stare that could pierce a led wall. This is a moment where it's not about you but do it for a fallen comrade, memorial, or event that changed history. Holding these memories will be some of the most valuable in your album.

5. Deployment Daily:

  • Your Photo journal: Deployments are one of the most monotonous tasks performed by our Navy. If you take one photo a day and journal alongside it you will not only make a lasting story of deployment but experience personal growth while doing so.

6. Look at me!

  • The Navy does some cool stuff: Alongside the day to day grind there are more opportunities to look back on some cool memories.

7. Hello Again:

  • Distance makes the Heart Grow Fond: Save those moments of homecoming and treasure them. Often times time in the military forces people into long distance relationships. Family and close people in your life are ecstatic to see you each time you come home
